About Our Pregnancy Photo Shoots

"The best and most beautiful things in the world can not be seen or even touched
but must be felt with the heart" - Helen Keller
When is the best time for a Pregnancy Portrait Session?

Most clients prefer to have their pregnancy photographs taken in the 7th or 8th month of their pregnancy. By the 9th month most mothers-to-be are starting to feel tired and also babies are unpredictable and some choose to come a lot sooner than expected!

Clothes and Styling for the Maternity Photography Session

With a maternity photography shoot the old adage "less is more" is correct. Your pregnant body is beautiful and you should show it off! But a pregnancy shoot is always about your comfort level. Many pregnant women are happy with wearing nothing at all for their maternity portrait session while others prefer to be fully clothed. Most women love the wraps provided by Janette. For the maternity photography shoot, Janette will provide many exquisite wraps and clothing that work well with the pregnant body, so you can feel free to bring nothing at all to the shoot except a pair of underwear - bring black, white and nude if you can.
Location

You can choose to have your pregnancy photography shoot taken at Janette's studio in the beautiful countryside of Pawling, NY. Or you can have the pregnancy photography session at your own home. Wherever you will feel the most comfortable. Janette loves to combine a maternity photo shoot with indoor and outdoor shots, weather permitting.

If you choose to have your pregnancy photography shoot at your own home Janette brings her portable studio with backdrops and lighting with her though Janette believes natural lighting is always best if used by a professional photographer. She will also bring many of her lovely wraps and clothing with her to the shoot as well.

Hair and Make-Up for the Maternity Photography Shoot

While Janette believes that natural hair and makeup looks best in maternity photography, a hair & make-up artist is recommended and provided at an additional cost. And you might want to consider having a manicure and pedicure before your pregnancy shoot.
